Don’t let the festive period slow you down

  • by -

Christmas is just around the corner and you find yourself left with significantly more downtime than you are used to, as the professional world begins to slow down for the most part and holiday celebrations ramp up.

Instead of letting the month pass you by whilst drinking mulled wine and mince pies, use that extra time on your hands by preparing for the new year ahead and taking a second to examine your current recruiting strategy.

Here are a few suggestions of what you could do to make sure your December is as productive as ever and you are on top of your game by the time January rolls around.

Plan for January

January recruitment season fast approaching, which means now is the ideal time to start prepping. Often recruitment picks up in the new year, as people start job seeking with a “new year new me” mentality, so it’s good to make sure you have everything as organised as possible on your side to be ready for the influx of new candidates.

Here are a couple of questions that you can ask yourself to help with your preparation:

• Have you begun to pre-plan your calls and visits in advance, so your calendar is up to date?
• Are all of your job ads prepared and ready to launch? If so, have you thought about creating an automated response to enable you to run them over the festive period and get an edge on the competition?

Analyse your current processes

Now is a good time to take stock of your current recruiting process and evaluate just what has and hasn’t worked.
• What recruiting tools have been useful so far?
• What job boards have proved the most profitable?
• What job ads have or haven’t been successful and why?

Review your metrics of the year to date and see if you should be tracking any other elements of your strategy.  For ideas of key metrics to follow check out our other blog post featuring a more detailed overview.

Finally, remember that just because everyone else is slowing down, doesn’t mean you should. In fact, this is the best time to get ahead of your competition.
